The Scottish Council for Independent Schools has worked closely with Exodus on a number of design projects. The council publishes a review each year highlighting its activities and achievements and this years document utilised a variety of line illustrations, rather than a photographic approach as in previous years. The end result being a publication that has a very unique look and feel whilst still being able to convey the important achievements of SCIS over the past year.

Having created a new visual identity for FES Limited, an independent building services provider, through their newly designed website, Exodus were then asked to continue the very strong and distinctive design style through a range of other items. A companies stationery is an essential tool in reinforcing both brand values and giving it a strong market presence. Subsequently, we continued on from our good work on the new website and developed a range of stationery items that echoed the new design style. The clean grid style has been adopted, ensuring maximum usable space for the end user. We are also working on a suite of brochures which will take their lead from the new visual identity.

Inveralmond Brewery, one of Scotlands’ premier brewers of beers, is one of Exodus’s newest clients. In order to bring their marketing material up-to-date, we were asked to produce a number of items that would give the brand a fresher and more contemporary look and feel. One of these items was a DL leaflet, which is intended to promote not only the Inveralmond brand but also its shop and tour. Utilising supplied images and sourced photography, we created a piece that was visually strong and striking, so that it would stand-out against the opposition when displayed in racks in public areas. The stylised approach adopted for the leaflet, will then be applied to future marketing material. One such item being an Audio Visual presentation, which we are currently working on.

Specialist manufacturer and wholesaler of textiles, Macnaughton Holdings based in Perth, recently commissioned Exodus to create a new brand and marketing material for the launch of their new tartan, Red Hackle. The Red Hackle tartan was designed as a tribute to men and women of the Black Watch, both past and present. The new brand, an A3 showcard and swing ticket had to be designed to a high standard and produced in a very short time frame, which is one of the reasons why the client asked Exodus to carry out the work. The result is a clean, carefully considered approach employing the classic serif font of Goudy to create a distinctive and stylish brand and marketing material.

The addition of a tear-off postcard, not only enables the residents to keep friends and family informed about their stay but also helps to further promote the hotel. The strong use of supplied photography and subtle application of colour helped to create a brochure that has a timeless yet contemporary look and feel.

Over the years, Exodus has worked very closely with the High School of Dundee to create a very strong, distinctive and recognisable brand. The school’s bi-yearly newsletter has been a project that Exodus has worked on and produced for a number of years now. However, to commemorate the High School of Dundee’s 175th anniversary, we were asked to design a newsletter that was distinctly different from previous issues of the ’Pillars’. The solution was to utilise gold foil blocking on the front cover which instantly gave the newsletter a ‘special’ feel. Combining this print finish with a treated line drawing of the school, it was very apparent that this edition was different from what had been seen before. .

Exodus planned and implemented an extensive marketing campaign for the High School of Dundee, to promote the Schools Open Morning which took place on Saturday 7 November. The structured campaign included press, which included local papers, as well as some Scottish nationals and ran from late September right up to the week of the Open Morning. In addition to the press campaign, two 48 sheet posters were sited in prominent locations in Dundee, a TV commercial was created and ran for two weeks on STV South and STV Aberdeen. This years campaign carried a completely new creative approach, where a graphic image formed part of the school name, linked to a call to action, as in the advertisement shown here. The adverts maintain the strong layout identity that has been built up over the years for the school and they promote a positive, confident message to prospective parents.
